Finding a bail bondsman can be a bit of a challenge; it’s not quite like it looks in the movies. Having said that, there are a number of great movies that have plots revolving around bail bondsmen. Here are three of our favorite.

  • Being a bondsman isn't quite like it appears in the movies.Jackie Brown. Based on the book Rum Punch by novelist Elmore Leonard, this movie stars Robert Forster as bondsman Max Cherry of Cherry Bail Bonds. Pam Grier, Robert DeNiro, Samuel L. Jackson, Melanie Griffith, and Michael Keaton also have parts in this Quentin Tarantino film about a flight attendant, an arms dealer, a bail bondsman, and two detectives. It is currently rated as 87% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • Midnight Run. Also starring Robert DeNiro, this 1988 comedy was a huge success. Hired by a bondsman, bounty hunter Jack Walsh (perfectly played by DeNiro) sets out to bring an accountant back to Los Angeles. It was released to both critical and commercial approval and is currently rated as 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • Bad News Bears. The 1976 comedy is well-loved for Walter Matthau’s portrayal as the coach of the Bad News Bears. Although this film isn’t about a bondsman, the fact that a children’s baseball team is sponsored by Chico’s Bail Bonds is great for a few laughs. It’s currently rated as 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
